Some of us, over here in The Netherlands, noticed there are some very
problematic French nodes doing a really good job fucking up Net/Rom routing
for a long time now. Including myself...
Some French nodes are holding old node entries which are already off-line
for several months. They're also broadcasting nodes but don't respond to any
AX25 UDP frame on a regular basis. And all sort of weird issues seem to be
going on there for some time now.
The DNS records of those (known) problematic nodes also seem to point to
only a single IP: 109.220.179.60. Coincidence? I don't think so... Look like
the same sysop doing a good job with misconfiguring his software.
These are the callsigns, hostnames and ports of these nodes currently known:
FRB242-10 frb242.ddns.net udp 91
FRB001-10 frb001.ddns.net udp 92
FRB024-10 frb024.ddns.net udp 93
Personally I've removed all routes to these nodes and blocked them at
firewall level, trying to minimize the effect of those problematic nodes by
blocking any traffic like their NODES broadcast.
Has anyone else also noticed serious problems with those nodes?
If so.. My advice is to do do the same... Block them completely so your node
doesn't receive and processes those crappy NODES broadcasts and doesn't try
to route to there anymore.
You'll see that routing in our Net/Rom network gets better then it's right
now without those nodes involved.
