I just did a quick compare with a default FBB config file against mine.

I think adding the value 4096 to the current value of the 'fbbfwd' parameter 
would might be sufficient to make callsign validation less strict. 

Also agree on the fact it's not the most obvious place for configuring this, 
but I think that's the key here without modification needed. Didn't test it 
(yet) but as said earlier I'm not having any issues and I have this 
particular flag set.
